Golf Gambling Games: Skins

Another popular golf gambling game that is simple to play is "Skins."  In fact, throughout the professional golf season, the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, and Champions Tour even have Skins Games they play against each other in actual competition.  A skins game is simple to play and for this reason remains one of the most popular golf gambling games.  Skins can be played with three people if needed, but four is always best.  You can always play with two players, but I see this as more of a match-play competition.
First, a dollar amount must be agreed upon before the round.  Make sure this amount is something comfortable enough for everyone in the group.  (Don't bet your rent away)  Once a dollar amount is agreed upon, the game is simple.  Basically it's every man-for-himself (or woman-for-herself) and the player with the lowest individual score on each hole wins the "skin" and therefore wins the amount agreed upon for each skin.  If two players tie on the hold with the same score, the skin carries over to the next hole, where all golfers are back in the hunt regardless of what they shot on the last hole.
A skins game is typically recommended for golfers of the same skill level.  This doesn't always have to be the case though.  A player who may average a bogey or double bogey on every hole can card a par or birdie and it only takes one hole to win 5,6,7 or more skins if there has been quite a few carry overs.
Skins is very popular among pros the week of tournaments while playing practice rounds.  It is a very fun and entertaining golf gambling game.  Next time you're out on the course, recommend this game to your buddies and I promise you won't be let down.
